IMPORTANT: Cold Weather Updates from City of Shaker Heights

Warming Center Available
With temperature predictions in the single digits later tonight and tomorrow, the City is again making the Stephanie Tubbs Jones Community Building available to residents who may need refuge from the cold.

Because icy conditions can cause unanticipated outages and burst pipes, residents may need a place to warm up. Those who find themselves in such circumstances can head over to the Community Building, located at 3450 Lee Road any time prior to 9 pm. After 9 pm, call 491-1234 (from a cell phone) or 911 (from a land line) so emergency personnel can arrange to open the building.

Trash Collection
In addition, trash collection scheduled for Tuesday through Friday will be delayed by one day.

The Centers for Disease Control produces a handy prevention guide for managing under extremely cold conditions.

Road Conditions
Cities throughout the region are finding it difficult to obtain adequate salt supplies. As a result, in Shaker Heights, salt use is being preserved for Shaker’s main and secondary arteries, and at intersections and stop signs on side streets. Please exercise extreme caution when navigating streets which cannot be salted.
