The Ludlow Community Association lost a giant this month. Dr. Winston Richie, Ludlow Community Association (LCA) co-founder, died on Friday, February 12, 2016, at Judson Park Retirement Community. Richie, with his wife Beatrice Jourdain, founded the LCA in 1956, after becoming the first African American residents to purchase a home in the Ludlow neighborhood. In addition to being a dentist and realtor, Richie was also the first African-American elected to serve as a Shaker Heights’ councilman and vice mayor.
