WORKSHOP INFORMATION:

March 22, 10 a.m. – noon
Lead Poisoning and Why We Should Be Concerned
Learn about what lead is, where it may be hiding and the potential sources of exposure. Even though lead was banned from use in household paint and gasoline, find out why houses, including yards, are a serious danger today.

Ins and Outs of Blood Lead Testing

There will be a discussion on:
• The importance of getting children tested on a regular basis to monitor their blood lead levels.
• How much lead is dangerous to the body and what actions should be taken for rising lead levels.
• There are blood lead testing laws on the Federal and State level of which most parents are unaware. Learn more about what services are provided to children once they are found to have elevated lead levels.

March 29, 10 a.m. – noon
Lead-Safe Cleaning and Do-It-Yourself Maintenance

Because regular house cleaning can create larger lead dust hazards, the
workshop will detail the special methods necessary to keep lead dust
under control. A certified renovation, repair, paint contractor will be
present to answer any questions.

Housing Rights and Regulations
When a person buys or moves into a home, there are laws in place to help them be informed of known hazards. Historically these laws have not been enforced and families are unknowingly buying or renting homes with lead hazards. Attend this workshop to learn more about the local, state and federal laws that help protect tenants or home owners.

Public Meeting for the Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd Resurfacing project.

The City of Cleveland invites you to a PUBLIC MEETING for the Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd Resurfacing project.

When: Wednesday, January 15, 2014 Time: 6:30 P.M.
Where: Our Lady of peace Catholic Church (12601 Shaker Blvd, Cleveland, OH 44120)
What: The purpose of this meeting is to present the Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Resurfacing plan to the public, and to gather public input on that plan. The project limits are Buckingham Ave. to Cedar Ave. The project includes resurfacing, spot pavement base repairs, spot sidewalk repairs, spot curb repairs, spot driveway repairs, and new ADA compliant curb ramps. Resurfacing between Mt. Overlook Ave. and Fairhill Rd. will be performed with the NEORSD sewer separation project scheduled for construction in 2015. This project also includes the construction of a rock fall fence on the east side of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, between North Park and Ambleside, as well as a barrier system to protect against falling rock. Six (6) foot bicycle lanes between Buckingham and Fairhill Road will be included with the final striping. The existing three lane sections in the northbound and southbound directions will be converted to two lane sections in order to provide for the bicycle lanes.

Why: Once your input is received, we will prepare the final Construction Plans. The Construction Plan will be presented at a future public meeting.
